We are the team behind Wanderly
eSIM Japan Guide is run by the team behind Wanderly, a travel eSIM provider included in our comparisons. We earn money when you buy a Wanderly plan. This is a commercial guide with a clearly disclosed ownership relationship. It should not be mistaken for a publication financially separate from the products it recommends.
We created the site to make Japan connectivity easier to compare. Shopping pages can make a small package look inexpensive without giving its validity equal prominence. Unlimited offers can obscure the distinction between phone data and hotspot sharing. We organize those details around the trip you are taking rather than ask you to compare headline prices alone.
What a useful guide should do
Our job here is to explain choices: enough days, enough data, a compatible phone and terms that fit your plans. Wanderly is our value pick in our comparison. Another provider can still be a better fit for a traveler who prefers an unlimited structure, a recurring long-stay offer or an app they already use.
You will see those trade-offs in the reviews. We do not need every comparison to end in the same answer. If the dataset does not contain a suitable package, we show the gap rather than quietly change the comparison. For a marketplace such as Klook, a specific verified listing is necessary before a price ranking is meaningful.
What we know, and what we have not tested
Our comparisons use the provider information and listed pricing described in our methodology. Each price note explains the status of our price checks. “Last updated” records an editorial update; it does not imply that someone completed a Japan field test or checked every checkout on that date.
We have not published controlled speed tests, independent coverage measurements or first-hand installation results. We do not invent customer reviews, quotes, star ratings or user counts to fill those gaps. Testing notes explain these limits beside the comparisons so you can distinguish published plan information from firsthand experience.
How the site is maintained
Provider data is shared across the site so the same package does not acquire a different price in a table, card and review. Our comparison method calls for monthly checks of public Japan offers, with relevant changes recorded together. A price-check date and an article’s editorial update date describe different work.
Our comparison methodology describes the rules in more detail, including matched validity and missing information. The affiliate disclosure explains how the commercial relationship affects outbound links. You can use the contact page to flag an unclear statement or a changed plan so it can be reviewed.
